Gilsangsa temple

 

On the way to temple :)

This is actually one of the richest town in Korea.. :)

It was the first time for me to visit there. 

Not many people were there , It could be because today is Monday and plus this is starting period of school and works after New year's holiday and winter vacation. Therefore, it would be even more surprising if there were many people

This was Catholic church :D

It looks quite old... (considering Korea has been opened to Christianity and some other religions recently..)

Rough guess, it is Romanesque in Medieval era...

 This is art museum which I've never heard of. 

Some exhibitions and cafe was opened.. I didn't visit inside though.

It wasn't really small considering it is located in the center of Seoul (a little bit Northern part) 

It probably has long historical background though it was bit disappointing there was no explanation of the temple ... 

left one is office building which definitely was built recently

the building on the upper level is the core building.

 It says..... 

"Under the shade area of silence, clean yourself"

" On the soft breeze, put your scent"

" Dear you, Flow through the beautiful river"

"Dear you, seize that immortal moonlight"

It is THE bell .

this is side view of the bell building. can you see little horizontal thingy right next to the bell? 

It is with wood (probably)

I think it only can be rang by monk for some special occasion 

(or specific time to let people notice something...)

This is the core building where people go and pray inside. 

And all public events like official pray ritual is performed there...

This is quite special. As you can see, all the other buildings above is with colorful drawings on the building. (column, pediment.. )

but this building is just wood. 

It is because, roughly guess, this building was built for long time ago and still remained without being burnt. or rebuilt for long time ago as well. 

In the past, only special honoring building such as palace was colored. 

So it is supposed to be like this even for other buildings but since other building was renovated or built recently, they are all colored. 

this was what I learned from history class though, it is not always true. 

It could be WRONG! haha

Probably people put those things here.. 

Can you see little bell under the timber from the corner side? 

FIND it! 

I think roof was fixed as well... :( quite ugly from the down view.
